AstraZeneca said it has reached an agreement with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that would allow generic versions of AstraZeneca’s Nexium and Prilosec generic drug. AstraZeneca will provide an exclusive deal for AstraZeneca to buy generic version of Prilosec.
“For AstraZeneca to obtain approval to market a generic version of Nexium and Prilosec in the US, it will be necessary to acquire the rights to Prilosec, a generic version of AstraZeneca’s Prilosec,” said AstraZeneca executive chairman and chief executive officer Martin Buie. “AstraZeneca will be able to acquire Prilosec from the United States, and AstraZeneca will be able to buy generic Prilosec from Canada.”
The FDA approved the generic form of Nexium and Prilosec in late 2003. The generic, approved by AstraZeneca, will be marketed by AstraZeneca, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, and Sandoz. In late 2003, AstraZeneca and Teva Pharmaceuticals, as well as Sandoz, signed a sales agreement known as annexion. AstraZeneca is the world’s largest generic pharmaceutical company.
Under the agreement, AstraZeneca will provide AstraZeneca with generic Prilosec for sale and for a specified period of time, including to customers in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and other countries in the world, where the brand-name drug is manufactured. AstraZeneca will also supply AstraZeneca with Prilosec for sale to patients. AstraZeneca and Teva will also provide a share of the total revenues from the sale of Prilosec from the U. S. drug.
In July 2005, AstraZeneca announced it had completed the acquisition of all US patents in the US and Canada. The agreement also includes a payment of $1.1 billion to Teva to acquire Teva from AstraZeneca. Teva is the world’s largest generic pharmaceutical company with a combined sales of $1.7 billion.
The agreement allows AstraZeneca to purchase a number of AstraZeneca patents on Prilosec, including three patents covering Prilosec, and also covers a number of patents covering generic Prilosec. The agreement also includes an additional two patents covering generic Prilosec, a class of drugs known as the anticonvulsants phenytoin and carbamazepine.
In October 2005, the US Food and Drug Administration approved AstraZeneca’s rights to AstraZeneca’s Nexium, and Prilosec’s generic version. AstraZeneca will also be able to acquire the rights to Prilosec from the United States, and AstraZeneca will supply AstraZeneca with a share of the total revenues from the U. drug market. AstraZeneca will receive $1.1 billion in cash, and $1.5 billion in royalty payments.

Hehe, that was a really long time, I hate this. Just finished NEXIUM 24HR 20 mg and my heartburn has gone. My stomach feels very upset and I feel like I am choking and gasping for air. I have to try NEXIUM again, I can't keep up with it anymore, and I can't stomach it, can't swallow it, I just can't stomach it anymore. I just want to feel better before I eat, and just want to eat it.
The only other option I know is to try NEXIUM 24HR 20 mg and see what happens. I haven't tried Nexium in over a year and I don't want to go through this again.
NEXIUM works great if you are frequent or severe heartburn. But, I have never had heartburn that long. And that's so what I don't want to do again. But, I still want to take Nexium again.
This medication does not cure heartburn or acid reflux, but it does give you the confidence to do so. Just take the pill, and do not stop taking it suddenly.
